FAQs

Find the answers you need about frequency of cleaning, drying times and moving your furniture.

How long does it take for carpets or furniture to dry after cleaning?

Drying times can vary. How long it takes to dry often has much to do with what is being cleaned and how it is being cleaned. A low grade commercial carpet with little absorbency could be sufficiently dry in 4-6 hours. A higher grade residential carpet with a high absorption rate could take anywhere from 6-24 hours to completely dry. In addition to the carpet itself, humidity also plays a role. The same principles hold true with upholstery albeit in half the time.

Do I have to move my furniture before having the carpets cleaned?

At Manitoba Carpet, Upholstery, and Duct Cleaning we send out two technicians to each service call. Our technicians will move and replace most furniture for you. We do however ask that you please move all breakables and ornaments off of any furniture you would like moved. China cabinets, pianos, electronics and appliances are typically not moved. Beds with attached headboards are moved only at the customer’s risk.

How often should I have my ducts cleaned?

It is recommended to have your residential heating ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) cleaned every 2-3 years for general upkeep. Neglected HVAC systems often result in complaints about temperature (due to blockages) and can produce costly inefficiencies for the home owner. If your home has endured any recent renovations or construction, immediate duct cleaning is recommended. Many indoor air quality problems and HVAC inefficiencies can be directly attributed to the materials involved at the construction stage.

How often should I have my carpets and furniture cleaned?

Depending on the amount of traffic in your home or business, the time frame can change. In a residential setting the typical rule of thumb for carpets is to clean every 12-18 months. Furniture can generally be cleaned every 2-3 years. If however you have a very busy and well used home spring and fall cleanings may be more suitable. Ultimately the choice is yours; we do however recommend that you do not wait too long. The life of your carpet and furniture will definitely be extended with proper and regular cleaning. Due to increased traffic volumes, it is recommended that carpets in a commercial setting be cleaned at least every 6 months or even every quarter.
